Mercedes-Benz V-Class launched in India at 1.4 crore: New challenger to Vellfire!

Mercedes-Benz India today announced the launch of the new Mercedes-Benz V-Class luxury MPV in the Indian market. The MPV has made its comeback after being withdrawn in 2022, ending a hiatus of over three years. It’s offered in two variants – 300 petrol and 300d diesel, both priced at Rs 1.4 crores (ex-showroom). Prices are introductory; interested customers can book the new Luxury MPV online or by visiting their nearest dealership. Deliveries will begin by the end of March 2026. The new V-Class will be locally manufactured at the company’s plant at Chakan, Pune. With its re-entry, the V-Class will strengthen Mercedes-Benz India’s presence in the luxury segment, and compete with the Toyota Vellfire, Lexus LM and MG M9.

Design-wise, the V-Class features a clean, boxy profile and a sculpted bonnet that flows into a prominent U-shaped front grille, complemented by a strong shoulder line along the sides. The rear design is upright, featuring a large glass area, and the wheel designs and bumper styling differ across variants. Globally, the V-Class is offered with two wheelbase choices – Long at 3,200mm and Extra Long measuring 3,430mm. The Indian market gets extra long variant with the AMG line exterior package. Buyers can choose from five exterior colour options and two interior colour themes. The V-Class also comes equipped with Airmatic air suspension with adaptive damping as standard. Mercedes says that the system has been calibrated to suit local road conditions.The V-Class is offered with two seating configurations. Buyers opting for a chauffeur-focused layout can choose the four-seat version, which features two individual captain seats in the rear. These seats offer extendable leg support along with ventilation, heating and massage functions to enhance passenger comfort. A six-seat configuration is also available, adding two seats in the middle row. These can be arranged to face the rear seats or set in a conventional forward-facing position.The V-Class features a familiar Mercedes interior layout with twin 12.3-inch displays – one for infotainment and one for the instrument cluster. It gets tons of physical buttons with soft-touch surfaces, brushed accents and neatly integrated controls giving the cabin a well-finished feel. Other features include multi-zone climate control, multi-colour ambient lighting, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Nappa leather upholstery, Burmester sound system and more.Talking about the powertrain, the V-Class is offered in two engine options – 300d diesel powered by a 2.0-litre, turbo diesel with 237hp and 500Nm. Another engine is a 2.0-litre turbo petrol with 231 hp, both engines come paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Safety features include seven airbags, a driver-monitoring system with a camera, ISOFIX anchors, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, and hill-start assist and more. It also gets a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.
