Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has now given a reassurance to people as the anxiety is growing among white-collar workers over potential AI-driven layoffs. Huang has said that the jobs are not defined by the tools used to perform them. According to a report by Fortune, speaking on the Lex Fridman Podcast, Huang acknowledged the widespread concerns but also stressed that AI should be seen as an enabler and not a replacement. “I just want to remind them that the purpose of your job, and the tasks and tools that you use to do your job, are related, not the same,” he said.

Speaking at the podcast Huang gave an example of radiology citing how AI can expand, rather than shrink, a profession. Computer scientists once predicted radiologists would be among the first jobs automated by AI. Yet, despite AI now powering nearly every radiology platform, the number of radiologists has grown. AI tools enable doctors to diagnose faster and see more patients, driving demand for more professional rather than fewer. Huang also warned that alarmist predictions had discouraged some from entering the field, creating a shortage.

Huang who once led Nvidia for 34 years, said that technological shifts have continuously transformed his own role without eliminating it. He believes that workers who embrace AI will thrive, while those who resist risk being outpaced. “You’re not going to lose your job to an AI, but you’re going to lose your job to someone who uses AI,” he said at last year’s Milken Institute Global Conference.Other leaders share Huang’s outlook. Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky has called AI “the best thing that ever happened” to his company, while JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon acknowledged that AI will eliminate some jobs but stressed the importance of workers adapting.
