Hyderabad techie dies after rusted streetlight pole falls on him

HYDERABAD: In a freak accident on lateBMonday night, a 23-year-old software professional was killed when a streetlight pole suddenly collapsed and fell on him while he was riding his bike at Nacharam crossroads.B Satvik was returning home after meeting a friend and heading towards Kartikeya Nagar from VST. Police said that as he rode close to the road median, a rusted streetlight pole on the divider gave way and came crashing down, pinning him under its weight. Under the impact, Satvik was flung off his bike, killing him on the spot. At the time of the accident, Satvik was riding on the wrong side of the road. A tractor driver and other motorists witnessed the incident, and alerted the police. Police officials later confirmed that the pole had weakened due to rust and lost its strength. The accident was captured on CCTV.
