Gas leak at MP fertiliser plant kills 3 workers

INDORE: Three workers died while another was hospitalised after a suspected gas leak at a lubricant-manufacturing factory in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district Sunday.The accident occurred around 8.30pm when employees of Sagarshri Lubricants Pvt Ltd in Pithampur’s Bagdun area entered a chamber for routine maintenance and were exposed to toxic fumes.DIG Nimesh Agrawal identified the deceased as Manawar residents Sushil Karma (35) and Jagdish Ninama (30), and Deepak Jamod from Indore. The hospitalised worker was stable, he said.Company manager Lokesh Gupta said one of the workers lost consciousness, prompting two colleagues to rush to his aid. All three were soon overwhelmed by the fumes. The trio was taken to a hospital and later referred to Indore’s MY Hospital, where they were declared dead. An inquiry has been ordered.
