BENGALURU: A 29-year-old man allegedly killed his 27-year-old wife by stabbing her multiple times and later ended his life in their rented house on Ullal Main Road Sunday.The deceased woman, Manju P, was a native of Kallakurchi district in Tamil Nadu, and her husband, Dharmaseelan Ramesh, was from Viluppuram in the same state. Dharmaseelan was a mason who worked in Dubai and returned to India a month ago, and Manju worked as a nurse in two hospitals. Manju and Dharmaseelan got married in Sept 2022 and didn’t have children. They stayed in Tamil Nadu for a year after marriage. Later, Dharmaseelan went to Dubai, and Manju moved to Bengaluru and lived with her father and mother. After Dharmaseelan returned from Dubai, Manju stayed in his house in Tamil Nadu for two weeks and returned to Bengaluru to work. Manju had rented a house on the third floor of a multi-storey residential building for the last one-and-a-half years and lived with her father, Periyaswamy, who also works as a mason. Her father was in Tumakuru on work when Dharmaseelan called him Thursday and informed him that he would stay with Manju and work in Bengaluru hereafter. Periyaswamy returned home around 8.30pm Sunday along with his nephew. However, there was no response when he knocked on the door, which was locked from inside. His nephew brought a spare key from the building owner, and they entered the house around 9.30pm to find Manju in a pool of blood on the bed in the hall, and Dharmaseelan hanging next to her. A senior police officer said the crime occurred Sunday afternoon and they found around 45 injuries on Manju’s body. He said Dharmaseelan slit Manju’s throat and stabbed her multiple times in the neck and all over her body. “We suspect he stabbed her even after her death.” According to Manju’s family, Dharmaseelan suspected her of being friendly with other men at her workplace.
