Bengaluru late-night cab scare: Influencer alleges hostage-like ride; number plate mismatch raises concern
A Bengaluru influencer’s terrifying Uber ride took a dark turn when the driver allegedly refused to drop her at her destination, made a U-turn, and attempted to hit her

NEW DELHI: Bengaluru-based social media influencer Amiee shared a chilling video on Instagram about a late-night Uber ride gone horribly wrong. The driver refused to drop her near her destination and suddenly turned aggressive. After she insisted on being dropped at the correct spot, he made a sudden U-turn and tried to rush the car back to where the trip had started — leaving her terrified and trapped inside. Things took a darker turn when she tried to note the vehicle’s registration number — the driver allegedly attempted to hit her. To make matters worse, the number plate on the car didn’t even match the one shown on the Uber app. The video quickly went viral, with many users sharing similar experiences and demanding better passenger safety. In her post, Amiee described the ordeal, saying, ““I’m reaching out to express my serious concern. This is not the first or even the second time I’ve had a negative experience with an Uber driver. We choose Uber expecting safety and reliability, but unfortunately, incidents like this continue to happen. It’s not just me—I’m sure many other customers are facing similar issues as well. It’s deeply disappointing and concerning. I strongly urge you to take strict action against this kind of behavior. Please address this matter seriously, as passenger safety should always be your top priority.” she wrote.Uber’s response Uber India responded to her post, requesting more details to investigate the incident. “Hi Aimee, we are concerned to see this and would like to investigate. We’ve sent you a message requesting additional details, please check your direct messages so we can look into this,” the company said. Uber later apologized, refunded her fare, and assured that strict action would be taken against the driver.Bengaluru police response The official Bengaluru Police handle also took note of the incident, commenting under her post: “Please provide specific area details and your contact number.” Amiee thanked the police for reaching out but chose not to file a formal complaint, saying she did not want the driver to be jailed.
