NOIDA: Chaos erupted near Gulshan Mall trisection under the Expressway police station area on Wednesday night after a speeding Land Rover Defender rammed into five cars and a motorcycle. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident, police said.According to officials, the vehicle, bearing Uttar Pradesh registration number, was being driven by Sunit, a resident of Sector 100, Noida. Preliminary investigation suggests that the driver lost control of the SUV while negotiating the busy intersection.“The accused driver, Sunit, was taken into custody from the spot. No one sustained serious injuries, though several vehicles suffered visible damage,” a police officer from the Expressway police station said.The officer added that a detailed medical examination of the driver was conducted to ascertain whether he was under the influence of alcohol or any intoxicant at the time of the crash.Eyewitnesses said the impact caused panic among commuters as the SUV hit multiple vehicles in quick succession before coming to a halt. Traffic movement was briefly disrupted due to the pile-up but was restored within an hour.
