Bihar SIR: SC asks EC to publish names of 65 lakh omitted from voter list; says Aadhaar acceptable as ID

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Election Commission to publish details of 65 lakh persons omitted from the electoral rolls after the special intensive revision in poll-bound Bihar on its official website by Tuesday. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymala Bagchi also directed the poll body to accept Aadhaar cards and EPIC numbers as valid documents for establishing identity. “Transparency is needed about 65 lakh deleted voters to enable people to seek clarification or correction,” the bench said.
