India batter Sai Sudharsan did not take to the field on Day 3 of the second Test against West Indies as a precautionary measure. Following an impact injury sustained on Day 2, the player did not do fielding duties as India looked to restrict the West Indies and secure a series win in Delhi.The BCCI Medical Team confirmed that the injury is not serious, and Sudharsan is “doing fine” while continuing to be monitored. The incident occurred during a remarkable moment on Day 2 when Sudharsan showcased his exceptional fielding skills at short leg. He took a stunning catch to dismiss West Indies opener John Campbell off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling, helping India claim an early breakthrough in their reply.Watch the stunning catch here After his catch, social media posts capturing Sudharsan’s agility and practice went viral, with the batter practicing hard with T. Dilip for short-leg catches. India, having declared their first innings at 518/5 with centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, built a commanding position in the match. Sudharsan contributed with the bat as well, forming a 243-run partnership with Jaiswal after KL Rahul was dismissed for 38. Sudharsan scored 87 runs before falling to Jomel Warrican, while Jaiswal’s innings of 175 ended following a run-out mix-up with Shubman Gill.

Other contributions included 49 runs from Nitish Kumar Reddy and 44 from Dhruv Jurel. Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 129, becoming only the second Indian captain after Virat Kohli to score five centuries in a calendar year. For West Indies, Warrican was the most successful bowler, claiming three wickets, while captain Roston Chase took one. India’s innings spanned 134.2 overs, and the team currently leads the two-match series 1-0, having won the first Test in Ahmedabad.
