NEW DELHI: A Russian tourist’s viral video has ignited debate over civic sense in India after she confronted a group of children for littering on the streets of India.The footage, shared by Ameana Finds on Instagram, caught the attention of social media users and union minister parliamentary affairs and minority affairs Kiren Rijiju.As of the last update, the video had garnered over 28 million views.In the video titled “Interaction with Indian kids went wrong”, Ameana instructed children to pick up the garbage. When they ignored her and threw more litter, she said:“What did you do? You dropped it [litter]. You pick it up. Put it in a bin.”Later, children were seen refusing to pick up the wrapper and even crushing it after it was thrown.“It’s not okay. I’m not giving you anything. Look at this. It’s your country. You’re gonna live and grow up in trash as long as you keep doing this,” she added.The clip begins with the boys asking her the name of her country.Misunderstanding, she shared her name instead. Moments later, one boy threw a food wrapper on the road, prompting her intervention.When he waved her off and asked for a dollar, she declined.The confrontation escalated as they continued mocking her by throwing more wrapper on road.Rijiju shared the video on his Instagram story with the caption: “Pls sensitize.”Online reactions ranged from support for Finds to criticism of the children’s behavior. One user wrote, “Sorry you had this experience. We must work harder to teach them better,” while another commented, “This is so embarrassing!! Thank you for doing your bit.” Content creator Abhiandniyu added, “I’m sorry you had this experience. We need to teach our kids better.”
