32 FIRs against Jawed Habib: Hair stylist duped Rs 5-7 lakh from each investor; promised high returns through 'scheme'

NEW DELHI: Jawed Habib, his son Anos Habib, and an associate have been accused of defrauding investors by promising high returns through a scheme under the banner of Follicle Global Company (FLC), news agency PTI reported. According to authorities, the accused collected Rs 5-7 lakh from each investor, claiming it would yield returns of 50-70 per cent on Bitcoin purchases. However, after over two years, investors reportedly received no returns. Preliminary investigations estimate the financial fraud at Rs 5-7 crore. Raia Satti police station in-charge Govind Kumar said that 32 FIRs have been registered against the trio. Notices have been issued for them to appear for questioning, and a lookout notice has been issued to prevent them from leaving the country. On Sunday, Habib’s lawyer Pawan Kumar met police and submitted medical papers citing the hairstylist’s poor health. “My client has heart issues and had recently lost his father. He is currently unwell and could not appear in person. We are cooperating fully with the police,” Kumar told reporters.“We believe that the police will not act unjustly. The allegations are under investigation. We are ready to cooperate at every stage,” he added. Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that Habib would need to record his statement in person.
