BHOPAL: A young man in MP’s Damoh district was allegedly forced to wash another man’s feet and drink the same water as punishment over a meme mocking the man that he had generated using AI and circulated on social media. The video of the act went viral, leading police to register a case against six persons.According to officials, the incident took place in Sataria village during a panchayat gathering on Oct 10.Anuj alias Annu Pandey, who was earlier caught selling liquor in the village, became the subject of an AI-generated video showing him wearing a garland of shoes. The clip, created and circulated by another youth, enraged Pandey and his supporters.Though the youth later deleted the post and publicly apologised, tensions persisted. A panchayat was convened to “resolve” the matter, where elders allegedly ordered the youth to wash Pandey’s feet and drink the same water as punishment. Eyewitnesses said the act was carried out in front of a large crowd, and the video of the humiliation soon spread widely on social media.
