BHOPAL: In a disturbing incident, a 28-year-old man was attacked, shot dead, and then beheaded late Tuesday night in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. The incident was reported from Neemkheda village under Malthone police station limits of Bina tehsil. The deceased was identified as Shubham Dangi, a resident of the same village.According to police, Shubham was allegedly murdered by his cousin Surendra Singh Dangi (45), who suspected him of having an illicit relationship with his wife. Acting on the suspicion, Surendra, along with his two sons, a woman, and another man, launched a murderous assault on Shubham near his house.
Police said the attackers first beat Shubham with sticks and rods, before Surendra allegedly shot him dead. Even after the victim fell to the ground, the attackers did not stop — they severed his head from the torso using a sharp weapon, leaving the body in a mutilated state on the spot.Locals informed the police after discovering the body lying in a pool of blood near the outskirts of Neemkheda. It was learnt that Shubham’s brother, Ranveer Dangi, rushed to the spot in an attempt to rescue him while he was under attack. The accused opened fire on Ranveer as well, with a bullet piercing his stomach. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later referred to a higher medical centre for treatment.“The accused murdered his cousin over a family dispute. We have registered a case of murder and use of illegal arms. Teams have been dispatched to arrest the absconding accused,” a police officer said. Investigators said the likely motive for the murder was the suspected illicit relationship. Surendra had earlier lodged a missing person’s complaint about his wife in Aug, and later began suspecting an affair with Shubham. Police have sealed off parts of the village.
