According to People, the actress in 2019 faced one of the most difficult times of her life, when she was diagnosed with a life-threatening lung condition, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The actress and her daughter, Laura Dern, in a 2023 interview, spoke about the same. Ladd’s daughter shared that the condition was so serious that the doctor said the actress might only have six months to live. “The doctor told us the one thing that can help her is getting her to walk to breathe deeper,” she recalled. It was the most challenging time for the actress and her daughter, who said it felt as if “the walls were crumbling.”The good news was that when this interview came out in 2023, Diana’s health had improved. According to the BBC report, Laura Dern confirmed the news of Diane’s demise with a statement that read, “My amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother, Diane Ladd, passed with me beside her this morning.” She mentioned, Ladd’s final moments were spent at home in California, and Dern was by her side.Diana added, “She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist, and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created.” “We were blessed to have her,” concluded her statement.
