After Zohran Mamdani's win, Trump says lost 'sovereignty' in New York — then breaks into his dance: Watch

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said the United States had lost its “sovereignty” after New Yorkers elected Zohran Mamdani as the next mayor. Speaking at a business event in Miami — where he later broke into his signature dance moves — Trump claimed the country’s largest city would move toward communism and said he would address the situation, though he did not explain how.“We’ll take care of it,” Trump said, without giving details.Speaking in Miami a day after Mamdani’s victory, Trump said that Miami “will soon be the refuge for those fleeing communism in New York.”‘The decision facing all Americans could not be more clear: We have a choice between communism and common sense,” he said. Trump added that the choice was between an “economic nightmare” and an “economic miracle.”The event marked the first anniversary of Trump’s election win over Democrat Kamala Harris. “We rescued our economy, regained our liberty, and together we saved our country on that magnificent night 365 days ago,” Trump told supporters. At the America Business Forum in Miami, Trump also danced on stage.Trump said the economy had improved during his presidency. He said prices had decreased and that the United States was admired globally. He also said that Republicans lost support in this week’s off-year elections because of messaging issues. He told the audience that communication was key, saying, “we have the greatest economy right now” and “a lot of people don’t see that.”“These are the things you have to talk about,” Trump said to the crowd at Miami’s Kaseya Centre, where business executives, athletes and political leaders were present.
