Missed flight, cleared no gate: How British national Fitz Patrick walked out of Delhi airport without immigration check; hunt on
Briton goes missing from IGI

NEW DELHI: In a security lapse at Indira Gandhi International Airport, a British national has allegedly left the immigration area without completing the mandatory formalities following his arrival from Bangkok, sources said.On Oct 28, Fitz Patrick arrived at the airport and was probably scheduled to board a connecting flight to London, but missed it. Police are still verifying his itinerary details. On Oct 29, the immigration authorities found Patrick missing during routine checks and informed police. An investigation has been ordered to find out how the passenger managed to leave the airport without completing the immigration procedures. CCTV footage suggests that Patrick had crossed the arrival immigration e-visa area, exited the terminal and went towards the city. Deputy commissioner of police (IGI) Vichitra Veer confirmed that a case had been registered and teams were trying to trace Patrick with the help of technical and human intelligence. He added that the airline staff present at the airport during his arrival were also questioned.A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official clarified that the arrival terminal falls under the jurisdiction of the immigration bureau and the customs. “CISF personnel do not operate inside the arrival terminal. Our deployment is limited to the terminal entry and exit points. The management inside the arrival terminal is handled by other govt agencies,” he said.
