‘How is this allowed?’: Video of namaz at Bengaluru airport goes viral; BJP targets Karnataka govt

BENGALURU: A viral video showing a group of Muslims offering namaz at Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru has sparked controversy, with the opposition BJP demanding accountability from the state government, news agency PTI reported. The video appears to show security personnel observing the prayers nearby.BJP Karnataka spokesperson Vijay Prasad raised questions about whether prior permission was obtained. “How is this even allowed inside the T2 Terminal of Bengaluru International Airport? Hon’ble chief minister Siddaramaiah and Minister Priyank Kharge do you approve of this?” he asked in a post on X late on Saturday night.“Did these individuals obtain prior permission to offer Namaz in a high-security airport zone?” Prasad added. He referred to recent rules, which the BJP alleged were framed to restrict RSS activities in the state. “Why is it that the government objects when the RSS conducts Patha Sanchalana (route march) after obtaining due permission from the concerned authorities, but turns a blind eye to such activities in a restricted public area?” he said. The BJP spokesperson also questioned whether the incident posed a serious security concern in a sensitive zone. The state government has not yet responded to the allegations.
