‘Fit India’: PM Modi hails Ironman 70.3 Goa; lauds Annamalai, Tejasvi Surya for completing triathlon

NEW DELHI: Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised the fifth edition of Ironman 70.3 Goa, saying such events reflect the nation’s growing commitment to fitness.“I’m delighted to see the increasing contributions of our young people in events like the Ironman 70.3 that took place in Goa today. Such events make a significant contribution to the Fit India movement. Congratulations to all who participated,” PM Modi said on X. He also lauded BJP leaders K Annamalai and Tejasvi Surya for completing the triathlon. The Ironman 70.3 drew over 1,300 triathletes from 31 countries. The endurance race tested participants through a 1.9 km swim, 90 km cycling stretch, and a 21.1 km run, cutting across Goa’s scenic coastline and heritage streets. Uzbekistan’s Konstantin Belousov won the men’s category with a time of 4:25:47, while Ellie Garrett from the UK topped the women’s race, finishing in 5:18:43. The Indian Air Force contingent swept all three podium spots in the relay event. The enthusiasm wasn’t limited to adults. Over 900 children participated in the IRONKIDS event a day earlier, marking a promising future for endurance sports in India.
