Bescom magic box turns death trap: Bengaluru techie, injured in bike crash, dies after ambulance gets stuck under underpass

BENGALURU: A 33-year-old software engineer, injured after his motorbike skidded off the road near Yelahanka late Wednesday night, died after the ambulance got stuck under the magic box on its way to hospital.The victim, Anand GR, a resident of Varthur, was near Judicial Layout when the accident occurred at 10:20pm. Pillion rider Jeevan told police Anand, who worked in a Manyata Tech Park company, lost balance and rammed a ring main unit (RMU) box installed by Bescom on the roadside. Both men were injured but Anand fell unconscious with severe head injuries. Anand was shifted to an ambulance. “However, the upper portion of the ambulance got stuck under the magic box in Judicial Layout. After trying to move the vehicle for around 10 minutes, Jeevan flagged down a car which was passing by and took Anand to Yelahanka govt hospital. But he was dead by then,” police said.Passengers injured as KSRTC bus hits vehicleTwenty-three passengers travelling on a KSRTC bus, heading to Kolar from Hoskote, were injured when their vehicle rear-ended a light commercial vehicle at Hoskote Thursday morning. Police booked a rash and negligent driving case against KSRTC driver Gangadhar. “Six passengers sustained fractures on their legs. Others were treated as outpatients,” a police officer said.
