NEW DELHI: The BJP won seven wards and the AAP secured three, while the Congress and the All India Forward Bloc bagged one seat each in the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) bypolls for 12 wards. The by-elections were seen as a crucial test for the BJP, its first major electoral contest after taking power in Delhi in February.Counting began at 8 am across 10 centres amid tight security arrangements, including CCTV surveillance and paramilitary deployment. BJP winners
- Chandni Chowk – Suman Kumar Gupta (BJP) defeated AAP’s Harsh Sharma by 1,182 votes.
- Shalimar Bagh – Anita Jain (BJP) beat AAP’s Babita Rana by 10,101 votes.
- Ashok Vihar – Veena Asija (BJP) won against AAP’s Seema Goyal by a narrow 405 votes.
- Dwarka-B – Manisha Devi (BJP) defeated AAP’s Raj Bala by a margin of 9,100 votes.
- Dichaon Kalan – Rekha Rani (BJP) beat AAP’s Neetu by 5,637 votes.
- Greater Kailash – Anjum Mandal (BJP) won against AAP’s Eeshna Gupta by 4,065 votes.
- Vinod Nagar – Sarala Chaudhari (BJP) defeated AAP’s Geeta Rawat by 1,769 votes.
AAP winners
- Dakshinpuri – Ramswaroop Kanojia (AAP) defeated BJP’s Rohini by 2,262 votes.
- Mundka – Anil (AAP) won against BJP’s Jai Pal by 1,577 votes.
- Naraina – Rajan Arora (AAP) defeated BJP’s Chandrakanta Shivani by a slim margin of 148 votes.
Other winners
- Chandni Mahal – Mohd Imran (All India Forward Bloc) won by defeating AAP’s Mudassir Usman by 4,692 votes.
- Sangam Vihar A – Suresh Choudhary (Congress) beat BJP’s Subhrajeet Gautam by 3,628 votes.
Chief minister Rekha Gupta thanked voters for their support, calling the BJP’s victory “a strong testament to the hard work and dedication of party workers.” She congratulated all winners and said the government remains committed to Delhi’s development.
