Woman’s skeleton found from mustard field

LUCKNOW: A skeleton, believed to be that of a 30-year-old missing woman, was recovered from a mustard field in a village in Nagram on the outskirts of the state capital on Wednesday morning. “The spot where the remains were found is barely 300 metres from the woman’s house,” police said.Nagram station officer Vivek Kr Chaudhary said information was received around 10 am from a local resident, Chandraprakash, who spotted skeletal remains in a field near the Gomti river. Police said the skeleton was in a highly decomposed and mutilated condition, making immediate identification difficult. “However, a sari recovered from the site led us to suspect that the remains could be those of a woman. The sari was later identified by family members as belonging to the missing woman,” he said. The skeletal remains were sent for post-mortem examination to conclusively establish the identity and ascertain the cause of death. Police said the husband of the missing woman had lodged a complaint at the Nagram police station on Dec 13, 2025, reporting that his wife had gone missing. Following the recovery, the woman’s family accused her husband of murdering her and staged a protest. Police said the husband is under scrutiny as part of the investigation, along with other possible angles.
