14-year-old Rohingya boy taunted over ‘refugee’ status, stabbed to death after quarrel in Delhi; 4 held

NEW DELHI: A 14-year-old Rohingya boy was killed after being stabbed several times following a quarrel in northeast Delhi’s Khajuri Khas on Tuesday. Four accused were arrested. They were identified as Ehsaan (19), Aqib (19), Aman (18) and Faraz (18).The victim’s father told police that the incident occurred around 11 pm. He said that a group of boys known to his son began abusing him and his friends, allegedly calling them “refugees”. When the boy objected to it, the group allegedly stabbed him in the abdomen. The injured child was undergoing treatment, but on Wednesday, he succumbed to his injuries. A murder case was subsequently registered.

The victim’s father, a native of Myanmar, works as a daily-wage labourer, while his mother is a homemaker.
