Elon Musk’s AI company xAI has released a full 45-minute recording of its all-hands meetings on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). The company released the video just a day after one of company’s co-founder resigned. The decision of the company is reportedly followed by the New York Times report, which may have prompted the company to make the video publicly accessible. The video shared by xAI revealed some sweeping changes taking place the Elon Musk company. The change includes a string of employee departures that Musk described as layoffs tied to a new organisational structure. “As a company grows, especially as quickly as xAI, the structure must evolve,” Musk said. The company is now split into four teams:* Grok chatbot (including voice features)* Coding system for app development* Imagine video generator* Macrohard project, aimed at simulating everything from basic computer use to entire corporations.Toby Pohlen, who will lead Macrohard, told colleagues: “There should be rocket engines fully designed by AI.”
Usage and revenue claims
In the video, the executives have also shared some new metrics during the meeting. Nikita Bier, the head of product as X, said that platform had “just crossed” $1 billion in annual recurring revenue from subscriptions, boosted by holiday marketing. Meanwhile, xAI’s Imagine tool is reportedly generating 50 million videos daily and more than 6 billion images in the past month. However, those figures are complicated by the surge of AI-generated deepfake pornography on X, which drove engagement but also raised concerns about the nature of the content being counted.
Elon Musk’s space-based vision
The meet was closed by Musk outlining the ambitious plans for space-based data centers and even a moon-based factory for AI satellites. Along with this, Musk also described a vision of a lunar mass driver — an electromagnetic catapult — to launch satellites capable of harnessing vast amounts of solar energy. “It’s difficult to imagine what an intelligence of that scale would think about,” Musk said, “but it’s going to be incredibly exciting to see it happen.”
