Woman’s body found in trunk in Bhopal water tank; live-in partner, mother and siblings held
In a shocking incident, Bhopal police have arrested a live-in partner and three family members after a woman’s decomposed body was discovered in a trunk within a water tank.

BHOPAL: The Nishatpura Police have identified the woman whose decomposed body was recovered from a trunk inside a water tank on a vacant plot in Six Ghara, Kamal Nagar, and arrested her live-in partner along with his mother, brother and sister.Police said the woman was allegedly murdered on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Investigators revealed that the accused kept the body at his residence for a day before packing it into a trunk and dumping it into a water tank located around 200 metres from the house.During the disposal attempt, the accused reportedly slipped and sought help from his family members, who assisted in getting rid of the body, officials added.The case came to light on Thursday afternoon after a local resident noticed a foul smell near the tank and alerted police. A team from the police station, accompanied by forensic experts, reached the spot and retrieved the trunk. The tank, approximately 10 feet deep and partially filled with water, was emptied with the help of locals. Authorities also found a dead animal inside the tank.Station House Officer Manoj Patwa said the body appeared to be three to four days old and in an advanced stage of decomposition at the time of recovery. Stones are suspected to have been placed inside the trunk.A murder case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and collect forensic evidence.
