NASHIK: A man driving a car died, and another was grievously injured, when the vehicle rolled over multiple times on the Dhule-Surat highway in Nandurbar district on Monday evening.Assistant inspector Narendra Sable, of the Visarwadi police station, said the injured men were taken by their relatives to a hospital in Songadh, Gujarat. The driver, Akash Patil (29), a resident of Songadh, succumbed while undergoing treatment.“The vehicle was speeding at the time of the accident, and the driver apparently lost control. The car then rolled over several times, injuring both the driver, Akash, and his companion grievously. Passersby took the injured to a local hospital. Later, they were shifted to Songadh as both of them hailed from that place.The police officers further stated that several boxes of country-made liquor were also found in the car, without the necessary permissions and authority.“After the incident, since both men were injured, we had filed a complaint against the driver of the vehicle under BNS section 281 (rash driving in public place), 125 (A), 9B (reckless driving) and also sections 65 (E) of Maharashtra Prohibition Act for illegal possession of liquor, besides section 184 of Motor Vehicle Act for dangerous driving against the driver of the vehicle, the officer said.“We have now received the information about the driver’s death. Once we get the papers from the hospital concerned, additional sections will be added in the case,” said the officer.
