Former India cricketer and Royal Challengers Bengaluru mentor Dinesh Karthik has revealed that Virat Kohli is actively preparing for a comeback at the 2027 World Cup, with the 36-year-old star batsman maintaining his cricket training during his recent London break ahead of the ODI series against Australia. “He is keen to play the World Cup 2027. In London, he was training during this big lay-off that he has had after a long time in his life. He was practising cricket, 2-3 sessions a week. His most recent international performance was during the ICC Champions Trophy victory in March, where he scored 218 runs in five matches, including a century against Pakistan and 84 runs against Australia in the semifinals. Kohli has demonstrated consistent success in Australian conditions, scoring 1,327 runs in 29 ODIs with an average of 51.03 and a strike rate above 89. His record includes five centuries and six fifties, with a top score of 133 not out. His recent form against Australia shows remarkable consistency, with his last five innings reading 54, 56, 85, 54, and 84. Similarly, his last five innings in Australia demonstrate strong performance with scores of 104, 46, 21, 89, and 63.
