The Indian cricket team finally touched down in Perth in the early hours of October 16 after experiencing multiple delays during their journey. The Shubman Gill-led squad had initially reached Delhi airport early on October 15, but the flight to Australia departed nearly four hours behind schedule, causing further rescheduling in Singapore. The team eventually arrived in Perth around 4 am and checked into their hotel.Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and KL Rahul were among the first batch of players to land in Australia. Strict security arrangements at Perth airport meant that fans had limited access to the players, and those waiting outside the hotel in the late night were unable to get photos, as the exhausted Indian stars headed straight to their rooms.

Kohli and Sharma are expected to be the main attractions during the ODI fixtures, marking their return after the Champions Trophy, where India had an unbeaten run. Rohit Sharma’s 76-run innings in the final earned him the Player of the Match award. Both Kohli and Sharma are now focusing exclusively on ODIs, having retired from T20Is following India’s T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados. They also stepped away from Test cricket ahead of the England tour. With Shubman Gill taking over as ODI captain, Rohit Sharma has been relieved of captaincy duties but will continue as a key batsman. Shreyas Iyer will serve as vice-captain, and KL Rahul remains the wicketkeeper-batsman. India’s ODI squad for the Australia tour includes Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (VC), Axar Patel, KL Rahul (WK), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Dhruv Jurel (WK), and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The team’s focus will now shift to performing in the ODIs before transitioning into T20 World Cup preparations, with all eyes on the experienced duo of Kohli and Sharma leading India’s white-ball charge.
