Former Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic has secured a new professional try-out (PTO) contract with AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds, the St. Louis Blues announced on Tuesday. According to reports, Lucic is already on PTO with the Blues during training camp, but his chances were derailed when the 6-foot-3 left winger suffered a lower-body injury during preseason play. However, after landing this new PTO with the Blues’ AHL affiliate, he is now getting another chance to try to earn a contract for the season. The signing, officially announced by the Blues, marks a fresh attempt for the 37-year-old winger to earn a spot in a full-season contract. With the new PTO in Springfield, Lucic now has a clear opportunity to show his strength and prowess on ice, with the hope of becoming an impactful player of the team.

Milan Lucic has landed another PTO on Tuesday with the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds. According to the NHL, St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that forward Milan Lucic will join the Blues’ AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.Earlier, he joined the St. Louis Blues on a PTO ahead of the 2025 training camp, but his chances were derailed when the former Boston Bruins veteran suffered a lower-body injury. With the new PTO in Springfield, Lucic now has a clear opportunity to show his effectiveness on ice. It is to be noted that Lucic last played in the NHL during the 2023-24 season with the Bruins. In four games for the Bruins that campaign, the left winger recorded two assists, 12 hits, and a minus-1 rating. However, his stint with the Bruins was cut short, as he entered the NHL Player Assistance Program after being arrested for an alleged domestic incident. Though the legal charges were dropped, the incident created a hindrance in his game.Despite this, Milan Lilac managed to play with the Bruins, where he appeared in 570 games and accumulated 139 goals, 205 assists, 344 points, 774 penalty minutes, and 1,592 hits.
