RAJKOT: In a horrifying act of rage and cruelty, a 15-year-old boy allegedly bludgeoned his elder brother to death and then killed his six-months-pregnant sister-in-law in a remote village, some 50km from Junagadh city. What stunned the the police even more was the ‘unrepenting’ teenager’s confession of raping his sister-in-law when she pleaded with him for mercy seeing his fury while killing his brother.

The chilling crime which was executed on Oct 16 was unearthed on Friday when the cops exhumed the bodies of the couple after the woman’s family members living in Bihar approached the Visavadar police station over suspicion of something untoward.Preliminary probe suggested that the boy harboured bitter hatred for his brother who used to frequently beat him and take away his money earned from managing in a cattle shed.“The boy admitted to first striking his brother repeatedly with an iron pipe on the head in their house until he collapsed. When his sister-in-law saw his fury and pleaded for mercy, the boy demanded to have sex with her. After he raped the woman, he got scared that she might scream. He thrust his knee on her abdomen and throttled her,” said a senior police official. The boy’s mother, who allegedly helped him bury the bodies behind their house, was also arrested for trying to destroy the evidence. The bodies were nude when exhumed and the man’s skull was fractured. The half-grown fetus had also come out of the womb due to the attack, said the officer citing the postmortem report.“The boy dug a five-foot-deep pit and buried the bodies. He then set ablaze their clothes and cleaned the blood stains. His mother was also present in their house when the crime unfolded,” he said.Though the boy admitted to having raped the woman, police are awaiting to confirm this with medical evidence.Mother claimed couple had died in accidentThe woman’s parents grew suspicious when they were unable to contact her during Diwali. When repeated calls to her husband’s phone went unanswered, they dialled the boy’s number. However, he gave vague replies. As they kept calling, his mother answered the call and claimed that her son and daughter-in-law had died in a road accident near Himatnagar in north Gujarat. However, when the parents asked for photographs, videos, or any official documents related to the alleged accident, she evaded their questions. Their suspicions deepened, prompting them to travel from their native place in Khagaria district of Bihar to Visavadar. The police verified that no such accident or deaths had occurred in the jurisdiction of Himatnagar police station.Boy Showed No RemorseInvestigators were taken aback by the boy’s calm and unrepentant demeanor despite the brutality of his actions. When detained and questioned, he showed no sign of remorse and made no attempt to conceal any details. Officials said he appeared to harbour deep resentment toward his elder brother. Investigators are also probing whether the minor himself had been subjected to any form of abuse. The DetectionVisavadar police had alerted their informers to keep a close watch on the minor boy and his mother, whose behavior had raised suspicion. Acting on these inputs, both were summoned to the police station for questioning. During separate interrogations, the truth gradually surfaced, and the boy eventually disclosed the location where the bodies had been buried. The police then exhumed the remains from the site.Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rohitkumar said, “Call detail records showed that the boy’s mother was not near the crime spot on that day. Her involvement in the murders was not established, but she assisted her son in destroying evidence. We believe it would not have been possible for one person alone to dig a pit and bury the bodies.”Family Migrated from BiharThe minor’s father, who died during Covid-19 pandemic, had migrated to the village from Bihar around 40 years ago, and both sons were born there. The father worked as a priest at the village temple on the village’s outskirts and the family lived in the vicinity. The boy managed a small shed for stray cows, while his elder brother worked as an electrician.
